The throttle body is a mechanical part of the engine and performs the function of admitting the appropriate amount of air, which is 14.7 of air per 1 of gasoline, dosing and regulating the air that will be introduced into the combustion chamber. It is composed of a cylindrical or oval duct, in which there are two valves that open and close the duct. These valves are controlled directly by the driver of the vehicle that, through the accelerator pedal, controls the movement of the valves.

In the throttle body there are position sensors that, depending on the degree of opening of the valve, inform the control unit of the information on this and other sensors to calculate the correct amount of fuel that must be pumped to the engine.
 

Problematic:

The malfunction of the throttle body could be signaled by the presence of irregularities in the engine when it is idling, by the loss of acceleration and by abrupt operation. In addition, the prevalent symptoms of incorrect operation of the throttle body must be taken into account: stopping the engine at traffic lights, stopping the engine during acceleration and, in extreme cases, turning on the engine control lamp (the computer indicates lack of intensity in throttle body).
